That’s right! We’ve expanded this series to 10 days because there is SO much we still want to show you 🥰

After a week in Madeira with lots of time spent in the mountains, it’s time for a change of scenery… So today, we’re taking you to the beautiful neighbouring island: Porto Santo! 🏝️

Porto Santo is basically the opposite of Madeira – where Madeira is all about mountains, lush forest, and waterfalls, Porto Santo is all about white sand beaches and desert like landscape! 😍

Here’s how we suggest spending your day:

🛳️ Ferry to Porto Santo

Depart from Funchal at 8:00 AM with Porto Santo Line.

The journey takes about 2.5 hours, and the price is €69.70 round trip or €81.80 including bike rental (highly recommend!) 🚲

🏖️ Morning beach time

Upon arrival, head straight to the beach. With 9 km of soft sand, it’s ideal for sunbathing or a leisurely walk.

🍽️ Lunch in Vila Baleira (the main town)

Enjoy some traditional Portuguese food at a local restaurant in the island’s main town.

Here are some good options for lunch:
- La Siesta Restaurante
- Tábua Rasa
- Pastelaria + Sabor

🚴 Bike around the island

Hop on your bike and head over to Miradouro da Portela for the most incredible views! 🤯

From the town to the viewpoint, it’s 6.5km (4 miles) one way with a bit of an incline. Make sure you put aside at least 1.5 to 2 hours for the total experience ⏱️

🌅 Time to relax

Before boarding the return ferry, grab a drink, coffee, or ice cream by the beach and enjoy the views and the vibes 🍦

🛳️ Ferry return

The ferry departs Porto Santo at 7:00 PM, getting you back to Funchal by 9:30 PM.

Make sure to go outside on your way back, as you can often catch incredible sunsets from the ferry! 🌅
