On this frozen lake, art is not neutral, connection is an act of resistance and gathering is community care. artshantyprojects is an annual immersive art program on frozen Lake Harriet in Minneapolis, MN. 

This year’s event runs on Saturdays and Sundays until Feb. 8. 

ICE is not welcome (other than the ice of the frozen lake you walk on to experience the temporary art shanties, performances and activities). 

brassmessengers performed on Sunday, Jan. 18. They dedicated their performance to Renee Good and played in honor of people taken by ICE. 

You can also catch the band on Saturday, Jan. 24. Stop  by if you’re able to when the project is open on Saturdays and Sundays until Feb. 8 to experience art and community.
