Piazza Maggiore 19 is passed by by thousands of people each day, but many don’t know the hidden secret that hides under the arches. Stand in opposite corners and you can speak to one another clearly, without anyone knowing! Just face the wall & the accoustics is will do the rest. 

It’s rumoured to have been used for lowers to confess without physical contact with priests! 

Bologna’s 7 secrets are quirky parts of the city to hunt down when you’re visiting: 

• The little window of Via Piella: a window to the ancient underground waterways
• Neptunes finger: head to Piazza del Nettuno and walk 360 degrees around it to see Neptunes finger turn into something else entirely 🍆
• 3 Arrows of Corte Isolani: 3 medieval arrows lodged in a portico, fired by bandits who legend says were distracted by a naked woman in a window, missed & the arrows have remained since. 
• Canabis Pretectio: a latin inscription on a portico ceiling that reads ‘bread is life, hemp is protection, wine is joy’ (hard agree on that!)
• Torre degli Asinelli: can you spot the rumoured broken vase on top of this tower??
