## Caption

On the 82nd anniversary of D-Day, Common Defense and our network of veterans and military
families are honoring the lives lost on the beaches of Normandy.

The soldiers who fought in World War II had a clear objective: defeat fascism and defend
democracy.

That kind of purposeful sacrifice deserves more than parades and empty words.

It demands that we have the courage to say enough to forever wars, and that the Senate bring
the War Powers resolution to the floor immediately.

As Jose Vasquez, our Executive Director, said today: when we enlisted, we swore an oath to
defend the Constitution, not to blindly follow a dangerous commander-in-chief into an
unauthorized war of choice.

We owe the D-Day generation that much.
