Someone could copy your hooks word for word. But they can’t copy your story.

That’s what separates content that sounds like you from content that could have come from anyone.

Here’s what I mean…

Ten years ago we were on holiday in Jeffreys Bay for the J-Bay Open, and the estate agent renting us our flat back in Ballito called to say the place had sold. Two weeks’ notice.

So I sat on holiday scrolling Property24, and what we could rent for the same money in J-Bay was a four bedroom house, two minutes from the beach, ocean view from the top floor, with a flatlet we could put on Airbnb.

We moved within the month.

My business runs remotely, my husband shoots photography, so we could just decide and go.

Now that’s a specific story, right? Real timeline, real place, real reason it happened. Nobody can read it out loud and claim it as their own.

And that’s exactly the bit that gets stripped out when people lean on AI to write for them. Because the way most people use these tools, blind, prompt it, post it, no brand voice trained in, what comes back is general. It’s the stuff anybody in your industry could have said.

And honestly, your audience can feel it.

They might not be able to tell you why a post reads a bit off. But the tells are there, and humans are brilliant at pattern recognition. The more AI everyone sees, the faster people clock it.

I’ve been writing AI-assisted copy for clients for over 3+ years.

The thing that keeps content sounding human isn’t the tool, it’s the specificity. Your actual stories. The exact words you reach for when you’re fired up. The metaphors only your people get. That’s the part AI can’t invent for you, because it was never in your life to begin with.

So if you’re worried your content is starting to sound generic, or you’ve handed it to a tool and you’re not sure what it’s doing to your voice, I made something for exactly this.

DM me BAN LIST and I’ll send you the list of words I never let AI use, the tells that give it away, plus a short email series on keeping your content sounding like you and not a robot.
