Facial bone loss is a key factor in structural facial changes and visible signs of aging.

This is just a small segment from a much longer training session with my students, but I believe it highlights an important topic that deserves attention

Facial bone loss is one of the most overlooked yet significant contributors to facial aging. As we age, the bones of the face especially around the eyes, cheeks, jawline, and mouth begin to slowly resorb, meaning they shrink and lose volume. This underlying structural change leads to a visible collapse of support for the soft tissues. The result? Sagging skin, deeper folds, hollowing, and overall facial flattening. These changes can’t be fully corrected by skin treatments alone because the foundation itself is weakening.

Piezoelectricity is the ability of certain materials, like bone, to generate a small electrical charge when mechanical pressure is applied. In the human body, this natural electrical signal plays a vital role in maintaining bone health. When we move, chew, or apply gentle, targeted pressure such as through skilled facial massage our bones respond by producing these signals.

These tiny electrical impulses stimulate osteoblasts, the cells responsible for building and maintaining bone tissue. Without regular stimulation, bones especially in the face can begin to shrink with age, leading to loss of structure, sagging skin, and premature aging. That’s why safe, educated touch matters: not only does it help with circulation and muscle tone, but it also gently activates bone’s natural ability to stay strong.
