Congratulations to this year’s winner, Tim Westwood from the University of Nottingham! 🤩

 
Leading uonwrfc, Tim has delivered outstanding results while driving meaningful and lasting cultural change across the club. Due to his leadership, the programme has achieved its most successful period to date. 

The club consistently fielded three BUCS teams across all fixtures, demonstrating both depth and sustainability. This season, the 3rd XV secured promotion, the 2nd XV finished 3rd in a highly competitive league, and the 1st XV won the Premiership North title, earning the opportunity to compete for promotion to Women’s BUCS Super Rugby. 

His impact extends far beyond results. Over the past year, the club has grown from 80 to 130 members, driven by their commitment to accessibility and development. Central to this has been the “Pathway to Pitch” programme, which has introduced new players to rugby in a supportive and structured environment, breaking down barriers to entry.  

To further strengthen the club’s ability to develop players skills, Tim has facilitated a partnership with Leicester Tigers, giving access to elite coaching and resources including the opportunity to train with the USA Eagles.  

In the words of his club ‘Tim has created an environment that balances high performance with genuine care for wellbeing, fostering trust, resilience, and accountability. 

‘The club’s values of respect, inclusivity, and commitment are embedded in all aspects of the programme. And has created and reinforced a culture where every member feels valued.‘
