Hyundai aims to increase localization across ICE and EV models to 90% over the next 5-6 years.
Hyundai Motor India has outlined a plan to make Tamil Nadu its “flagship EV hub” for India.

Steps are already being taken to achieve this goal. Hyundai has established its first battery sub-assembly plant for EV powertrains and is actively localizing key components, including power electronics.

Hyundai aims to increase localization across both ICE and EV models from the current 82% to 90% over the next 5-6 years. The target is to enhance the purchasing value from Tamil Nadu-based supplies by approximately Rs 4,000 crore, which is expected to create around 2,000 additional jobs in the state.

The company also announced a skill development initiative in partnership with the state government to foster a future-ready workforce. This program will commence in December 2027.

The carmaker will invest more than Rs 26,000 crore over a period of 9 years from 2023 to 2032.
