Several workers were injured in an electrical "mishap" at the Medical Center Metro station on Rockville Pike in Bethesda, a Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service spokesperson said Monday morning.⁠

The incident was initially called an explosion. It was not immediately clear what led up to it, and the cause is not yet known.⁠

EMS crews evaluated several workers, and three were taken to hospitals in serious condition, Montgomery County fire spokesperson Pete Piringer said about 8:30 a.m. All three were in serious condition with electrical burns and other injuries, he said.⁠
