A Suffolk jury convicted a man of second-degree murder and all other charges for driving into a Deer Park nail salon while intoxicated in 2024, killing four people and injuring nine more.

Steven Schwally was not present while recovering from a recent heart attack, as the jury read its verdict on the second day of deliberations.

“Guilty,” the jury foreperson said of the top charge, which carries a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in state prison. The jury of six women and six men seated before State Supreme Court Justice Richard Ambro was convicted of additional felony charges, including manslaughter, aggravated vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, reckless endangerment, and several misdemeanors.
