Clyde’s Fine Diner, the East Village restaurant where chef‑owner Chris Hoffmann fuses fine‑dining technique with nostalgic comfort food, will close on June 27.  Hoffmann — a 2024 James Beard Foundation semifinalist for Best Chef Midwest — opened Clyde’s in 2019, bringing a polished yet playful take on comfort food to the East Village.  The restaurant became known for elevated takes on classics, including Brussels sprouts Caesar, a tuna melt with Gruyere and Chicago-style giardiniera and the fiery Hot Bird — Bell & Evans fried chicken drenched in Sichuan hot sauce. Hoffmann even made his own sausage, and the griddled CFD burger earned a reputation as one of the best in Des Moines.
