There is now a Jimi Hendrix Way in New York City, thanks in part to a Rock & Roll Hall of Famer who helped get it done. West 8th Street at Sixth Avenue in Greenwich Village is now co-named with one of the greatest guitarists of all-time. What is Hendrix's connection to NYC? He moved to the city as a young artist, captivating audiences with his creativity. He eventually opened Electric Lady Studios on West 8th Street in 1970, the same year he died at the age of 27. Steven Van Zandt, of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band, helped lead the street renaming effort. He’s also behind Teach Rock, bringing a free music curriculum to students around the country, teaching them about the greats. #music #nbc4ny #jimihendrix #greenwichvillage
