This is exactly why knowing precisely what’s inside your body matters, not just “hormonal” or "copper," but the specific type, hormone, and mechanism.

A copper IUD has no hormones. It works by making the uterine environment toxic to swimmers and less receptive to fertilization.

Mirena contains levonorgestrel, a synthetic progestin. It works locally, but it’s still a hormone.

If you specifically chose hormone-free and were given hormones anyway, that’s not a small mistake.
