Yeah, probably not. Your dog just had a completely different understanding of the situation than you did.

They don’t fully understand what a baby is. Or why you reached toward them while they were chewing something valuable. And you probably missed the signs…most people do.

I’ve been doing this for 20+ years and I’ll tell you straight: I don’t always know what they’re thinking either. There’s instinct, genetics, memory, and all kinds of weird associations happening in there.

But all we can do is get better and reading the signs and remembering to respect what the animal actually is.
