Rebuilding the Grand Canyon’s historic North Rim lodge could cost at least $600 million and take 5 to 10 years.

The Grand Canyon Lodge – North Rim burned down during the Dragon Bravo Fire last summer, along with more than 100 other buildings inside the park.

The North Rim recently reopened to visitors, but advocates say there is still no major funding secured for the full rebuild.

A big part of the timeline is the wastewater treatment plant, which needs to be rebuilt before full services can return. Advocates say there is currently no active running water or bathrooms in the park.

The North Rim is a major economic driver for Northern Arizona and Southern Utah, and supporters are now pushing for federal funding to help rebuild.

Would you still visit the North Rim while it’s being rebuilt?
