As Sacramento holds its Pride March in Downtown today, here’s a look back at our city’s first Pride Parade, which was held on June 17, 1979. Here is the front page of the July 1979 edition of Sacramento’s longest-running LGBT newspaper, “Mom…Guess What!” 

Founded by Linda Birner with mentorship and assistance from C.K. McClatchy, editor of The Sacramento Bee, “Mom…Guess What!” was published from 1978 to 2009.
