A Man was knocked out in front of Ottawa Police during an illegal after-hours bar operation yesterday around midnight.

A chaotic scene unfolded early Sunday morning as Ottawa Police responded to reports of a disturbance at an alleged illegal after-hours bar on Bank Street around 3:40 a.m.

Video from the scene appears to show officers attempting to gain control of the situation while a large crowd gathered outside the establishment. 

Witnesses say a man became upset after being recorded, knocked another person’s phone out of their hand, and a physical altercation broke out moments later.

The incident happened in full view of multiple officers and dozens of bystanders. Following the altercation, police were seen pursuing an individual down the street as the situation continued to unfold.

According to Ottawa Police, officers arrived to find a large group of people both inside and outside the venue. Following their investigation, one person was arrested on criminal and liquor-related charges, while another was arrested and charged with trespassing.

This comes just months after Ottawa Police charged 10 people and two corporations following an investigation into an alleged after-hours bar operating on Rideau Street.

Police say the investigation into Sunday’s incident remains ongoing.
