In honor of Women’s History Month, the ND Club of Los Angeles is proud to feature Shawtina Lewis in our inaugural Spotlight Series.

The Journey of a "Double Domer"
A Los Angeles native, Shawtina earned her undergraduate degree in American Studies ('05) before returning to campus for her Juris Doctor ('08). During law school, she was a Teaching Assistant, a member of the Black Law Student Association, and a competitor in the Client Counseling Competition. Her favorite campus memory? Well-earned breaks at South Dining Hall.

Professional Excellence
Shawtina is an equity partner at Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP, an Am Law 60 firm. She represents Fortune 500 companies in high-stakes complex litigation across California. Beyond her practice, she serves on the firm’s Counsel Committee and leads various mentorship initiatives.

A Legacy of Service
Guided by Notre Dame’s mission, Shawtina’s commitment to others is lifelong:

☘At ND: Co-founded Shades of Ebony, a women’s organization dedicated to scholarship and service.

☘Legal Advocacy: Served as Chair of the California State Bar’s Young Lawyers Association, expanding pro bono access.

☘Alumni Leadership: Chaired the Internal Activities Committee for the ND Alumni Association Board and serves as a regional admissions volunteer.

☘Community: Sits on the Executive Board of the LA Bar Association’s Litigation Committee and is a recognized "pro-bono all-star."

☘Beyond the Bar
When not cheering on the Irish (or rooting against USC), Shawtina enjoys traveling with fellow Domers and reading. At home, she stays busy "refereeing" her two sons, Elliot (5) and Jack (3), alongside her husband, Anthony.

☘What do you fight for?
"Advocating for women’s access to quality education and a seat at every table where decisions affecting their lives are made."
