❗️The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut just reminded the world that internal combustion is far from finished.

In a series of official tests, the 1,600-horsepower twin-turbo V8 hypercar set new production-car benchmarks in both the quarter-mile and standing half-mile, proving that rear-wheel drive can still compete with the quickest machines on Earth.

The numbers are wild. The Jesko Absolut ripped through the quarter-mile in just 8.88 seconds and completed the standing half-mile in 13.27 seconds while reaching 223.6 mph (359.8 km/h), the highest speed ever recorded by a production car over a standing half-mile.

It also hit 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.79 seconds despite sending all of its power exclusively to the rear wheels.

What makes the achievement even more impressive is that the Jesko Absolut was designed primarily for top-speed performance, not drag racing.

Its low-drag aerodynamic package, 5.0-liter twin-turbo flat-plane-crank V8, and Koenigsegg’s revolutionary 9-speed Light Speed Transmission allow it to continue accelerating ferociously long after most cars begin running out of steam.

The Jesko Absolut has already built a reputation as one of the fastest production cars ever made, previously setting world records for 0-400-0 km/h and continuing to improve those times through software and drivetrain refinements.

These latest quarter-mile and half-mile records further cement its status as one of the greatest hypercars ever engineered.

With only 125 Jeskos planned for production and every build slot already sold out, the chances of seeing one in person are incredibly slim.

If Koenigsegg eventually finds enough road to attempt the Jesko Absolut’s full top-speed run, could it become the first production car to officially break the 300 mph barrier?
