POV: It’s the 2011 NBA lockout and you just showed up to your local gym thinking you were about to get some casual runs in. Then you look across the court and see Kevin Durant checking in. 😭💀 What started as a normal pickup game instantly turned into a nightmare. KD spent that entire summer going from gym to gym, city to city, putting on scoring clinics against anybody brave enough to step on the floor with him. No NBA games, no national TV, no pressure—just pure love for basketball and endless buckets.

What made it even crazier was that this wasn’t some rookie trying to make a name for himself. Durant was already a multiple-time scoring champion and one of the best players in the world. Yet every clip from that summer looked like he was playing with something to prove. Pull-up threes, impossible fadeaways, dunks in traffic, and crosses that had defenders questioning why they even showed up. Every gym he entered became an instant sellout because everyone knew they were about to witness greatness up close.

The 2011 lockout gave us some legendary basketball stories, but KD’s pickup run might be the greatest of them all.
