People really watch Kevin Durant and forget just how ridiculous he was in his prime. A legitimate 7-footer moving like a guard, handling the ball coast-to-coast, pulling up from 30 feet, and hitting contested jumpers like they were warmup shots. There has never been another player built like KD with that combination of size, skill, efficiency, and scoring ability. Defenders could play perfect defense and it still didn’t matter because once he got to his spot, the shot was basically unguardable.

That’s why the Larry Bird vs. KD debate always sparks so much discussion. Bird is one of the greatest players ever and his résumé speaks for itself, but when it comes to pure basketball talent and offensive versatility, Durant has a real argument against anybody in NBA history. He could score at all three levels, fit into any system, and dominate against any era.
