The classic logo with the dinosaur of the Toronto Raptors and the star-filled design of the Orlando Magic remain some of the most loved identities and staples in NBA history. Many basketball fans as myself feel like modern logo redesigns have become too minimalist, replacing the bold and distinctive styles of the past with cleaner corporate branding that can sometimes feel less memorable, and definitely less special.

Logo debates are all obviously always subjective, but nostalgia plays a major role. And nostalgia hits people, especially sports fans, really hard. The original Raptors Tyrannosaurus Rex logo in particular has become iconic among NBA fans, with many wanting it to come back and be the Toronto franchise logo forever. Teams all across the National Basketball Association have had many basketball games where they will have their players wear retro jerseys or alternate uniforms with throwback branding, showing how powerful classic designs remain in the hearts and minds of basketball fans everywhere, even many years after they disappeared.

It is cool to look back on all these old NBA logos, as they had much more character than the logos do today. There are some great throwback logos. I wonder why NBA teams make their logos so bland, and I wish many of them would use some of their throwback logos. It makes no sense and I feel like nobody is questioning it. Every logo today is just like a circle with the letter of the city in it, at most. What a shame.

I wish the basketball players of these NBA teams had a better logo to wear on their jersey, such Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets, Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner of the Orlando Magic, Scottie Barnes and Brandon Ingram of the Toronto Raptors, and Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Paul George, and Andre Drummond of the Philadelphia 76ers.
