David Hockney, the British artist famed for his vibrant colors and views of Californian swimming pools, has died aged 88.⁣

His varied career spanned almost seven decades, across which he embraced mediums old and new, from painting and photographs, to iPads and even stained glass. ⁣
⁣
His motto, to paint the things you love, served him well, becoming one of the world’s most recognizable painters. In 2018, one of his swimming pool paintings sold for $90 million at auction, a record for a living artist.⁣
