સુરતના પુણાગામ વિસ્તારમાં આવેલા પુણા તળાવ પાસે કરણ વાઘેલાની થયેલી હત્યાનો ભેદ સુરત ક્રાઈમ બ્રાન્ચે ગણતરીના કલાકોમાં ઉકેલી કાઢ્યો છે. પોલીસ તપાસમાં સામે આવ્યું છે કે અનૈતિક સંબંધોની શંકાને લઈને મુખ્ય આરોપી અજીત વાઘેલાએ પોતાના સાથીદારો સાથે મળી કરણ પર છરી, પાઈપ અને અન્ય હથિયારો વડે હુમલો કર્યો હતો, જેમાં ગંભીર ઇજાઓના કારણે તેનું મોત નીપજ્યું હતું. ઘટનાની જાણ થતાં ક્રાઈમ બ્રાન્ચે CCTV ફૂટેજ, ટેક્નિકલ સર્વેલન્સ અને હ્યુમન ઇન્ટેલિજન્સના આધારે તપાસ હાથ ધરી હતી અને અમરેલી, ભાવનગર તેમજ સુરતમાંથી ચાર આરોપીઓને ઝડપી પાડ્યા હતા. સમગ્ર મામલે પુણા પોલીસ સ્ટેશનમાં હત્યાનો ગુનો નોંધી વધુ તપાસ શરૂ કરવામાં આવી છે.
