... are we old? it’s been ten years since VLD. huh?!?!

we’ve been trying to write something that does today justice. somehow, we still don’t have the words. it’s been a long day of reminiscing and honoring you, so we’re just going to yap directly to you. yes, you, the one reading this.

when this show premiered on Netflix a decade ago, none of us knew how much our lives would change. we grew up with this show… and now, not to be meta, but we’re posting this as fans who somehow got lucky enough to work here.

we had no idea how important “patience yields focus” would be. it became something we’d say to ourselves on the hard days. who would’ve thought a team of kids with no idea what they were doing would end up meaning this much? and not just to each other, but to an entire fandom? it’s such a beautiful phenomenon that it brings tears to our eyes -- and there is not one hint of sarcasm in that.

but that’s the thing about Voltron, and about YOU… you’re here and refusing to let go. thanks to this show, we’re writing a ten year anniversary post about a series this admin found on a little platform called Tumblr. it’s true! that’s the power of social media, and why we always tell ourselves there’s no such thing as dreaming too much or too big.

many of us learned how to hone our talents because of this show. we see so much art, cosplay, and beyond every day. there’s no way for us to comment, like, and share all of it, but know we see it. we are so incredibly grateful.

this fandom is the lifeblood of everything we have. whatever you connected to, whether that be any ship, AU, you name it, today it’s all canon as far as we’re concerned. everybody just gets to be happy, because that’s what birthdays are for.

we don’t know what we did to deserve you, but we don’t take it for granted. you turned a show into a safe space, and ten years later, it’s still standing because you keep showing up. so, from the absolute bottom of our hearts: thank you.

oh, and one more thing. don’t go too far, because we wouldn’t let an anniversary this big pass with just one post. something’s coming, and some very familiar voices are involved.
