Multiple fatalities have been confirmed after a massive explosion ripped through the Accurate Energetic Systems plant in Hickman County, Tennessee — roughly 60 miles southwest of Nashville — early this (Friday) morning. The blast occurred around 7:50 a.m. near the town of Bucksnort...and was so powerful it was felt for miles, rattling windows and shaking homes as far as 40 miles away.
Officials report that at least 19 employees remain unaccounted for (and numbers are changing by the hour) — & several others have been hospitalized. Emergency crews have been unable to enter parts of the facility due to ongoing secondary explosions. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is en route to investigate...(results will surely take several days).

The Accurate Energetic Systems facility, established in 1980, manufactures explosives and ammunition for U.S. and foreign military contracts. The sprawling 1,300-acre site includes eight production buildings and a quality control lab used for manufacturing, testing, and storing explosive materials. Of note: the company previously suffered a fatal explosion in 2014 that left one dead and three injured.

Local authorities are urging residents to stay clear of the area while first responders continue the rescue/recovery ops. According to local reports—One resident, located 15 miles from the blast site, said, “I thought we were at war. The house shook so hard, I thought the windows would blow out.” Some reports say the blast could be felt 40 miles away.
