Happy Friday and Juneteenth my beautiful people! You’ve been taught what love looks like by people who didn’t know how to love themselves.

So you think love means staying when you should leave. Shrinking so someone else is comfortable. Proving your worth through your usefulness. Accepting breadcrumbs and calling them a meal.

You think love is supposed to hurt. You think fighting means caring. You think distance means depth.

But healthy love doesn’t look like that.

Healthy love is quiet. It shows up. It asks questions because it actually wants to know you. It respects your boundaries without resentment. It celebrates your growth even when it means less time together. It feels like safety.

Healthy love requires two people who’ve done their own work — two whole people choosing each other, not two halves desperately trying to complete something broken.

You deserve a love that doesn’t require you to beg to be chosen. You deserve consistency over intensity. Reciprocity over score-keeping. Support that doesn’t require you to dim your light.

And that love? It starts with you choosing yourself first.
