I have been trying to figure out how to put this into words and I am not sure I can do it justice — but I am going to try.

This beautiful woman found us when we lived in Florida and has followed our journey ever since. She fell in love with our animals, claimed them as her own, and even named some of them — Saricka being one of them — all without ever setting foot on this farm. She has been part of our story in a way that most people who have never visited haven’t been, and she has held a special place in my heart for a very long time.

Last week she and her husband traveled from Salt Lake City — and brought 20 of their closest friends — to finally see this place in person.

And then there was Josh. He drove all the way from Georgia — just to be here. Just to be part of this day.

And then there was watching her meet Oscar. And watching her stand beside Saricka — the animal she named, the animal she has loved from hundreds of miles away — and seeing her face in that moment. That completely undid me.

She is older, she is gracious, she is pure love — and seeing her light up in that pasture alongside Josh, alongside 20 beautiful people, is something I will carry with me for a very long time.

This farm keeps showing me that animals heal people in ways nothing else can. And days like this one remind me exactly why we do what we do.
