K-pop might finally have its Grammy moment. 🏆

The Grammys announced five new categories, including Best Asian Pop Performance, covering K-pop, J-pop, C-pop, and more.

According to the Recording Academy, the change reflects how global music listening habits have evolved.

At the 2026 Grammys, "Golden" from the KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack became the first K-pop song ever to win a Grammy. 

But even with that historic milestone, the Grammys have remained one of the toughest stages for K-pop artists to conquer.

BTS (bts.bighitofficial) came close multiple times, and Rosé (roses_are_rosie) sparked a global phenomenon with “APT.”—but a nomination was often as far as it went.

Now, with a dedicated category finally in place, K-pop’s chances of taking home Grammy trophies are higher than ever.

The question isn’t “Can K-pop win a Grammy?” anymore.

It’s “How many?” 👀🔥

드디어 K-POP이 그래미의 주인공이 될 수 있는 순간이 왔습니다. 🏆

그래미가 5개의 새로운 시상 부문을 발표했는데요. 그중에는 K-POP, J-POP, C-POP 등을 아우르는 ‘Best Asian Pop Performance(최우수 아시아 팝 음악 퍼포먼스)’가 포함됐습니다.

그래미 측은 이번 변화가 전 세계 음악 소비 트렌드의 변화를 반영한 결과라고 설명했는데요.

지난 그래미에서 영화 KPop Demon Hunters OST인 “Golden”이 그래미를 수상한 최초의 K-POP 곡이 되었지만, 그래미는 여전히 K-POP 아티스트들에게 가장 높은 벽 중 하나였습니다.

수년간 글로벌 차트를 휩쓴 BTS (bts.bighitofficial), 그리고 전 세계적인 ‘APT.’ 열풍을 일으킨 로제 (roses_are_rosie) 역시 후보에 오르는 데까지는 성공했지만 끝내 트로피를 들어 올리지는 못했죠.

하지만 새로운 카테고리의 신설로 K-POP의 그래미 수상 가능성은 그 어느 때보다 높아졌습니다.
