#TSRTrialWatch: #ChrisBrown took the stand Thursday and opened up about the 2020 dog attack involving his former housekeeper, Maria Avila, saying he was “in shock” after finding her seriously injured outside his L.A. home.

According to rollingstone, Brown said he heard growling while getting ready to shower and ran downstairs, where he says he found Avila lying face down after being attacked by a security dog named Hades. Brown testified that he secured the dog, called for security, and checked to see if Avila was breathing, but admitted he never personally called 911.

Brown told jurors he avoided making the call because he didn’t want audio from the incident leaking and turning into a media “circus.” He also acknowledged leaving the property before first responders arrived and said he did so at his manager’s suggestion.

“He wanted to make sure she was taken care of [and] to get me away from the publicity,” Brown said. Avila’s lawyer, Nancy Doumanian, asked, “What would have been the problem with you being there and waiting for paramedics to get there with a woman bleeding in your driveway? Why would that be a problem for you as a celebrity?”

He responded “Because of how my image is and always used. I didn’t want a misleading story, or like a circus, from my status. It’s pretty sticky when it comes to that. So me staying out of the way was advised,” he said.
Brown denied owning the dog, claiming it belonged to his security team, but admitted some responsibility for what happened on his property. Brown also claimed on the stand that he had warned Avila and her sister not to go outside without asking him first. He claimed he told the women, in English, that the dogs weren’t friendly.
