## Caption

I was four when a classmate said “ew, your mom has black skin.” By senior year, they were screaming slurs and throwing beer bottles from a Range Rover outside my house. And I decided: I would never give them what they wanted. I would make myself undeniable.
That pressure of representation — twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week — became my operating system. It followed me into every room. Into fashion. Into sustainable fashion, where the irony is sharp: an industry that talks about justice but keeps building products only certain people get to participate in.
But here’s what they didn’t expect: I wasn’t trying to fit their mold. I was studying it so I could build a different one.
I’m building a table where you don’t have to be twice as eloquent to be believed.
