Our Biggest Mistakes When Starting Mindful Merch (So You Don’t Have To) 💸

Starting a brand? Learn from our painful mistakes so you don’t make them too! 

🔥 1️⃣ Not Performing a Wash & Wear Test on Every Colour
We tested the fit but not every colour—and surprise, some reacted differently after washing. This cost us big time, as we had to reduce stock to seconds. Lesson? Test everything before going into bulk!

🔥 2️⃣ Over ordering the Big Sizes
We thought XL+ would fly off the shelves… turns out, not so much. We are literally stuck with too many 3XLs. Now we order based on real demand, not assumptions.

🔥 3️⃣ Dropping Too Many Styles in the Launch.
We tried to cater to everyone instead of perfecting a design first. Too many styles, too much stock, not enough focus. Keeping it simple would’ve saved time, money, and stress.

🔥 4️⃣ Printing Neck Labels Instead of Using Tear-Away Tags
Rebranding later? Nightmare. Tear-away labels are the way to go if you’re offering blanks or planning a relaunch.

🔥 5️⃣ Underestimating Production & Shipping Timelines
Thought we could launch on time? Think again. Production delays, customs hold-ups, and shipping mishaps happen—plan for it!

Lesson learned? After 10 years in fashion, we thought going big and selling higher quantities would work best for our business model. Turns out, we didn’t have enough knowledge around wholesaling or a big enough budget to market ourselves properly. Scaling too soon nearly cost us everything!

So on that -  Start small, test properly, and always leave room for delays.
