Attention is the rarest currency we have, yet we spend it, and demand it from others, with zero budget.

Dropping an endless, unformatted wall of text into someone's inbox forces them to pause their day, decode the chaos, and context-switch on command. Unless it's an emergency, it passes the cognitive burden onto them. It's a soft form of egoism, and it completely disregards their mindful attention.

True communication etiquette means respecting the mental space of others.

But looking inward: how often do we actually respect our own attention?

I am currently on the final stretch of graduating from an intensive 6-month, 200-hour meditation teacher training. We’ve spent hours diving deep into the theory and practice of calm abiding methods, completely respectful of the traditional lineage and history of Tibetan Buddhism, which is the source of these practices.

Through this lineage, we learn techniques to realize a profound truth: meditation is not about finding peace.

Meditation is about opening a brave, safe space for you to be exactly as you are and feel exactly as you really feel. When you strip away the masks, the conditioning, the expectations of who you "have to be," and the anxiety of what you have to do tomorrow, your body finally finds a state of relaxation. And in that space, whatever needs to flourish will flourish. It might feel comfortable or uncomfortable; you might find resting or you might find anxiety. It is simply the honest answer of what your body truly needs in that moment.

If you want to dive deeper into this or talk about how to reclaim your own attention, send me a direct message, let’s continue the conversation there.
