It is National Flag Week! This week always begins on Flag Day, June 14, and extends through the following Saturday. While the focus is on our nation’s flag, we thought we would take this opportunity to talk about our state flag in California. In this video, Jared letterpress printed a large halftone of the most prominent part of our state flag, the California Grizzly bear.  This halftone is a reproduction of Charles Nahl’s drawing, “Grizzly Bear,” which he designed in 1854. It is Nahl’s depiction of the Grizzly that appears on our state flag. This was printed with a gradient of red, yellow, blue, and purple ink using our Washington hand press, which was manufactured in 1852. #SacHistoryMuseum #NationalFlagWeek #california #museumtok #printing
