🌍 It’s a wrap on #COPUOS2026! Here’s the highlights:

COPUOS saw applications for membership from The Bahamas🇧🇸, Kyrgyzstan🇰🇬, Serbia🇷🇸 and Uganda🇺🇬 

🛰️ The Expert Group on Space Situational Awareness proposed its 1st recommendations to strengthen international coordination & information-sharing for space safety.

🌕 The Action Team on Lunar Activities Consultation (ATLAC) began discussing an international mechanism for information-sharing and exchange, to enhance cooperation and address emerging challenges from increased lunar activities.

✈️ UNOOSA published an Issues Brief on Airspace Integration for Space Transportation Operations & hosted the 1st meeting of the icao Task Force to address key questions & develop a workplan.

🏥 The Space & Global Health Network reviewed implementation of the UN 2025–2035 Space and Global Health Strategy & welcomed the Earth Observation Health Architecture to strengthen health systems through satellite data.

👩🏽‍🚀 UNOOSA published “Tala and Her Journey through Space”, which teaches children about space science, space law, the Moon, & the role of the UN. 

🤝UNOOSA & unido_org launched Space4Industry, a new platform to help countries use space technologies to strengthen industries, build resilience & support sustainable development.

🤝Space4Resilience was launched in partnership with the commonwealth_sec & spacedata.ai , expanding access to satellite data to strengthen disaster resilience across all 56 Commonwealth nations.

📡 UN-SPIDER launched a new, free Earth Observation course developed with wuhan_university, unuinweh & APSCO.

🌊 The Space4Ocean Alliance Steering Committee: elected its new 2026-2027 board, expanded its membership & launched two new Working Groups focused on artificial intelligence & policy support.

✒️ UNOOSA celebrated the conclusion of its Space4Women Landmark Study by signing an MoU with the Dawood Global Foundation to provide training & professional opportunities to young women.
