When 87% of pregnancy-related deaths are preventable, inaction is not an option!

MomsRising was proud to join advocates, birth workers, and partners from across North Carolina came together at the North Carolina General Assembly for Black Maternal Health Day of Action to demand urgent action on our state's maternal health crisis.

The message was clear: too many moms are still dying from preventable causes, and Black mothers continue to face the greatest risks. We can and must do better!

Together, we met with lawmakers and called for policies that improve maternal health outcomes, strengthen accountability, invest in community-based solutions, and ensure every family has access to respectful, high-quality care before, during, and after pregnancy. A special thank you to Senator Natalie Murdock for her leadership in improving Black maternal health across North Carolina.

We're grateful to everyone who showed up, shared their stories, and raised their voices. The fight for maternal health justice continues and together we're building a future where every mom has the opportunity to thrive.
