Most people in Arizona will go their whole life without seeing a Gila monster in the wild.

Even though they live right here in the desert, Gila monsters spend most of their lives underground and only come out occasionally, which makes sightings pretty rare.

They move slow, usually avoid people, and are one of the only venomous lizards in the world.
