Gettin’ my kicks on (my favorite stretch of) Route 66 🌵🚗✨

I just got back from one of the best road trips I’ve ever been on. If you know me, you know I’ll never pass up an opportunity to visit newmexicotrue, and this time I got to experience the state in a new way — traveling historic Route 66. #sponsored

What I love about Route 66 in New Mexico is that it makes you slow down. Instead of focusing on where you’re going next, you start paying attention to what’s right in front of you.

I pulled over for roadside attractions and neon signs, wandered through historic hotels and small-town museums, rode Sandia Peak Tram above Albuquerque, watched sunsets over the desert, and found myself taking detours I never would have made if I were in a hurry.

Along the way, I met fellow travelers from all over the world chasing their own Route 66 adventures and locals passionate about preserving the Mother Road’s history. Those conversations ended up being just as memorable as the places themselves.

Maybe that’s what I love most about road trips like this. The destination matters, but the journey through the unexpected moments in between may matter even more.

And New Mexico seems made for that kind of travel. It’s a place that rewards curiosity, where history, landscapes, and stories are around every bend in the road.

Route 66 gave me a reason to explore New Mexico more slowly — and I’m so glad it did. ❤

Have you visited New Mexico? Driven Route 66?
