This isn’t ordinary smoke. The Lineage Logistics warehouse has been burning since Wednesday. Cold storage, refrigerants, plastics, 85 million pounds of decomposing frozen food. Governor Newsom and Mayor Bass both declared states of emergency yesterday. The particle pollution advisory is still active across LA County.

Here’s what actually matters for your body:

🔬 PM 2.5 particles are smaller than 1/30th the width of a human hair. They don’t stop at your lungs. They enter your bloodstream. This is not a “little smoky outside” situation.

🏠 Your standard HVAC filter does nothing for PM 2.5. You need MERV 13 minimum, or a True HEPA air purifier. Run it in your bedroom. That’s where you spend the most hours.

💧 Hydrate more than you think you need. Your airways need moisture to trap and clear particles. 80 to 100 oz of water daily minimum.

🍊 Load up on Vitamin C and antioxidants. Citrus, berries, bell peppers. Smoke exposure generates free radicals that damage lung tissue. This is your counter.

🚫 No outdoor workouts. Sustained cardio drives your ventilation rate 10 to 20 times above resting. You are pulling in that particulate at volume. It’s not worth it.

😷 If you must go outside, N95 or KN95 only, properly fitted. Surgical masks and cloth masks do not filter PM 2.5.

📞 Call 211. The city is distributing free N95 masks and air purifiers to affected residents right now.
