✋ Carpal tunnel syndrome occurs when the median nerve gets compressed at the wrist, leading to numbness, tingling, pain, and sometimes weakness.

💅 Nail technicians, office workers, and anyone performing repetitive hand activities are at increased risk. Repetitive gripping and prolonged wrist positions can aggravate symptoms.

⌨️ The good news? Most patients don’t need surgery right away. Early treatment often includes:

✅ Nighttime wrist splinting
✅ Ergonomic changes like a vertical mouse or talk-to-text
✅ Taking short breaks from typing or repetitive activities every 60 minutes if possible
✅ Wrist and nerve-gliding stretches three times a day
✅ Oral anti-inflammatories and/or corticosteroid injections 💉

🩺 If symptoms persist, nerve conduction studies and EMG testing can help determine severity.

🔪 Surgery is typically reserved for those who fail conservative treatment. I perform a mini-open carpal tunnel release under local anesthesia only through a small incision, and most patients are using their hand for light activities within a few days.
