“And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect” (Romans 12:1-2). 
  
From as far back as I can remember, VBS has been a highlight of my summer. As a kid attending VBS, I loved hanging out with my friends, dancing, going outside for recreation time, and learning about Jesus. VBS taught me how much God actually loves me. My faith wouldn’t be as strong as it is today if it weren’t for VBS.  
  
When I became too old to attend VBS as a student, I switched to volunteering as a Junior Shepherd for Major, the son of a family friend, and his group. I loved leading his group and being around him and all his friends. This summer will be my third time as Major’s Junior Shepherd—and his group’s final summer attending VBS. Being able to lead kids exactly like my friends when I was in VBS has been truly special, and I’ve formed lasting relationships.  
  
This year, in addition to being a Junior Shepherd for Major’s group, I am going to be a song leader. I have always wanted to be a song leader and am so excited to dance and have a great time worshiping Jesus!  
  
If you have a kid, get them signed up for VBS. If they are too old to attend, encourage them to volunteer with you. It will truly be the highlight of everyone’s summer!
