We are angry, but not surprised, to learn that our friend Isaac Sant was among those arrested this week in Minnesota.

Isaac has spent much of his life standing shoulder to shoulder with working people, immigrants, and communities under pressure. He has never been one to sit quietly on the sidelines.

Isaac has been connected to Battalion Search and Rescue since our earliest days. Long before any of us imagined national attention, political controversy, or federal investigations, Isaac was out in the desert with us as a volunteer, helping search for people who were lost but not forgotten.

Over the years, we've shared miles, campfires, music, conversations, and difficult days in the field.

We know Isaac as a thoughtful, compassionate, and deeply committed person. We know him as a volunteer. We know him as a friend.

Many people know Isaac through his years of work in the labor movement, where he has helped workers organize, defend their rights, and win meaningful victories for working people. Service to others has been a constant theme throughout his life.

The government can call people whatever it wants. We know Isaac by a different set of words: friend, organizer, volunteer, musician, advocate, and fighter for ordinary people.

He has stood beside us for years, and we believe friends should show up for one another when it matters.

People facing political pressure are often reduced to headlines, accusations, and caricatures. We want people to know who Isaac actually is.

We want Isaac, his comrades, and his family to know they have friends across the country who are thinking about them today.

If there is a legal defense fund, fundraiser, GoFundMe, or any other way to support Isaac and the others facing charges, please post it in the comments or send it to us directly. We will gladly share it.

Stay connected. Look out for one another. Support your communities. Support the people willing to stand up when it matters.
