“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” -Matthew 11:28-30

The culture of the world is go go go. How can you improve yourself, how can you work for a better life, how can you find or make your own joys. Even school, work, or relationships can be burdensome with the effort required, overwhelming and encompassing every aspect such that there is never even a brief breath of respite. This world pushes problems every which way, presses them down on you, all while you too push against the vanities of life. Receive this gift of rest from Jesus! There is an immense need for peace and rest, but this world has no solution and we do not deserve the Lord’s rest and yet it is offered to everyone freely. All you must do is come to Christ and receive it. This means leaving behind your laboring, your self-reliant efforts, your sins, your doubts, and your presumptions. This is a change of life, to turn from the current path and advance towards Jesus. Away from endless labor and towards rest.

What is even more amazing is that there is rest after rest. As we have come to Christ, He has given us rest, rest from our sins and self-striving. But as we grow in our knowledge of Him, having taken His yoke and learning from Him, we find rest after rest. A bounty of blessing, joy, and contentment. Depths that you cannot imagine, wonders you have yet to see, an intimate and loving relationship with the Almighty. You have been given rest from your burdens, and now you find rest in Christ that exceeds all that you ask or even think of.
