Former Prime Minister Boris Johnson attacked French president Emmanuel Macron over the weekend for banning a rally in Paris at which he was due to speak. Johnson was due to attend the 'Free Iran' rally calling for an end to the Islamic regime.

Hours before the rally, which had been agreed with the government months in advance, the Paris prefecture announced the ban, claiming they had received evidence of a bomb plot. Johnson dismissed the claims as a 'cock and bull story', accusing the French government of capitulating to the demands of the Iranian Islamic regime, with whom Macron had spoken in the days leading up to the event.
