Richard Nixon signed the Title IX legislation into law 54 years ago today.

The law is widely known in the sports world for greatly expanding equal athletic opportunities for girls and women.

Gatorade has applied that equality to its own advertising policies, according to PepsiCo VP of Sports and Entertainment, Carolyn Braff.

Braff was a speaker at a recent SBJ event where she detailed how women’s sports is a great place for the company to deliver business results.

When PepsiCo is building Gatorade campaigns, she pointed to research showing that men want to see Serena Williams and Caitlin Clark in ads just as much as Justin Jefferson or Josh Allen.

She said, “We got really clear data that said we don’t lose a step by putting women alongside men and committing to 50/50 representation moving forward.”
