Could this crash have been avoided⁉️😨

Two men were rushed to hospital with serious but stable injuries following a two-vehicle collision AND ROLLOVER at the busy intersection of Merivale Road and Meadowlands Drive on Sunday afternoon.

Emergency crews responded to the crash at approximately 1:10 p.m. Three men in their 20s were assessed at the scene, with two requiring transport to hospital in serious but stable condition, according to Ottawa Paramedic Service.

Video circulating from the scene appears to show one vehicle beginning a left turn while oncoming traffic was still travelling straight through the intersection. 

It is unclear from the footage whether the left-turning vehicle entered on a yellow or red light. 

The turning vehicle was then struck by an oncoming vehicle. The exact circumstances of the collision have not been confirmed by police.

The collision caused significant traffic delays in the area, with Ottawa police asking motorists to avoid the intersection while OC Transpo temporarily rerouted buses. The roadway has since reopened.
