❗️The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution may have ended production in 2015, but it just received one of its most encouraging mentions in years from the company’s new leadership.

During Mitsubishi Motors’ 57th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, President Keisuke Kishiura said he wants the company to become capable of producing another wonderful car like the Lancer Evolution again.

While this is not a confirmation that a new Evo is in development, it represents a notable shift in tone from a company that has spent years focused on SUVs and electrification.

The Lancer Evolution became an icon thanks to its rally heritage, turbocharged performance, and fierce rivalry with the Subaru WRX STI.

Since production ended, enthusiasts have continued to call for its return, making it one of the most requested Japanese performance car revivals. Kishiura’s comments suggest Mitsubishi still recognizes the importance of halo performance cars and the passion they generate among fans. 

Whether that eventually leads to a new Evo, a high-performance EV, or simply a renewed focus on enthusiast vehicles remains unknown.
