The NFL isn’t NFL Sunday anymore, it’s now a full-scale, every-day-of-the-week media machine. Over the last few seasons, the league has stretched its footprint across Thursday Night Football, Black Friday Football, Saturday on special occasions, Monday Night Football, Thanksgiving Turkey Bowl, Christmas NFL Games, Christmas Eve, and now full international windows, making football less of a weekly event and more constant. What used to live almost entirely on Sunday afternoons on CBS, FOX, and NBC has expanded into a multi-platform takeover, with ESPN in the mix and streaming services embedded in the schedule.

Amazon Prime Video has locked in Thursday Night Football and holiday games. Netflix has entered the NFL space with expanded 2026 rights, adding marquee windows like Week 1, Thanksgiving Eve, Christmas Day, and Week 18. Peacock, YouTube, and ESPN+ have all become part of the rotation, turning the league into something that can be watched almost anywhere, anytime.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has called the shots. He has consistently pushed the league toward global expansion and younger, digital-first audiences. He realized that streaming isn’t alternative anymore, it’s where massive audiences already live. The NFL under his leadership is leaning into that reality rather than resisting it.

And through all of this, the core message from the National Football League remains the same. Broadcast TV still carries the majority of games, but streaming exclusives are now a strategic weapon used to grow revenue, expand reach, and turn American football into a year-round product instead of a Sunday tradition.

Football isn’t just a day anymore. It’s a calendar. Long time NFL legend turned broadcaster Jason Kelce does not agree with this strategy. Kelce played Center for the Philadelphia Eagles and won a Super Bowl with them. He is brothers with Travis Kelce, tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs where he catches passes from Patrick Mahomes and is even dating famous superstar pop singer Taylor Swift.
