This Instagram post shares what the NBA Finals matchups would have been if it was the 2 best teams. 

In 2026, it would have been Shai Gilegeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren, Alex Caruso, and the Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Jalen Brunson, OG Anunoby, Karl-Anthony Towns, Josh Hart, Mitchell Robinson and the New York Knicks. Instead, Victor Wembanyama, De’Aaron Fox, and the San Antonio Spurs took on the NY Knicks. New York City had a parade today to celebrate the Knicks NBA Championship, where even megastar celebrities like Kylie Jenner and Timothee Chalamet attended, who I often honestly confuse with Tom Holland and Zendaya.

2025 would have been the OKC Thunder vs. Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, and the Boston Celtics. Instead Tyrese Haliburton, Pascal Siakam, and the Indiana Pacers took on SGA and OKC. 

Nikola Jokic, Aaron Gordon, Jamaal Murray, Christian Braun, and the Denver Nuggets make up the majority of the Western Conference for 2023 and 2024, but Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, and the Dallas Mavericks made the NBA Finals one year. Representing the Eastern Conference for the most part was the Boston Celtics when Kristaps Porzingis, Al Horford, and Jrue Holliday were there, but Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, Bam Adebayo, Max Strus, and the Miami Heat snook in one year to compete for the NBA Championship. The Golden State Warriors were led one last time by Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green as well.

The Los Angeles Clippers with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George vs Kevin Durant and James Harden on the Brooklyn Nets would have been amazing. Instead we got Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, and the Milwaukee Bucks against Devin Booker, Chris Paul, DeAndre Ayton, and the Phoenix Suns. Of course the snake KD would join them next.
