## Caption

🇿🇦 Kebab chutney is South African Indian comfort food at its best—tender spiced lamb kebabs simmered in a rich tomato chutney and served with warm roti. My version includes plenty of fresh mint and coriander, mustard seeds for added depth, sweet peas stirred through at the end, and a generous squeeze of lemon juice to bring it all together.

✨ Recipe

For the kebabs:
• 500g lamb mince
• ¼ cup coriander, chopped
• ¼ cup mint, chopped
• 1 green chilli, finely chopped
• 3 garlic cloves, minced
• 1 tsp ginger
• 1 tsp ground cumin
• 1 tsp ground coriander
• 1 tsp garam masala
• Salt, to taste

For the chutney:
• 2 tbsp oil
• 1 tsp mustard seeds
• A few curry leaves
• 1 onion, finely chopped
• 2 garlic cloves, minced
• 4 ripe tomatoes, chopped
• 1 tsp chilli powder
• 1 tsp ground cumin
• ½ tsp turmeric
• 2 tbsp mint, chopped
• Salt, to taste
• 1 cup frozen peas
• Juice of 1 lemon

Mix the kebab ingredients and shape into meatballs. Brown lightly and set aside. Temper the mustard seeds, sauté the onion, curry leaves and garlic, then add the tomatoes and spices. Simmer until thickened, return the kebabs to the pan and cook until tender. Stir in the peas, finish with lemon juice, garnish with coriander and serve with warm roti.
